Off-Shoulder Ruched Front Blouse

Pattern #5673
Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

Pattern pieces made from knit fabrics should be sewn with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.6 – 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity.

Cutting Plan

  • From main fabric:
  • 1. Back – 1 piece
  • 2. Right Front – 1 piece
  • 3. Left Front – 1 piece
  • 4. Sleeve – 2 pieces
  • 5. Placket – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Serge the longitudinal edges of the placket, fold to the wrong side, press, and topstitch. Connect the marks on the placket with straight lines. Stitch along these lines, as well as along the short edges, with loosely tensioned stitches and gather.
  2. On the front pieces, clip the seam allowance near the marks on the center edge. Serge the section of the edge between the clips, fold to the wrong side, press, and topstitch close to the edge of the allowance.
  3. Place the front pieces right sides together, insert the placket between them. Note: The placket piece is positioned 1.2 cm from the neckline edge and 1 cm from the attached allowances. Stitch the section of the center front seam from the neckline to the clip. Serge the seam and press. Serge the section of the seam from the clip to the hemline, press, and topstitch.
  4. Attach the sleeves to the back. Serge the seams and press them towards the back.
  5. Place the sleeves and front right sides together. On the left side, insert the placket between them. Note: The placket piece is positioned 1.2 cm from the neckline edge and 3-4 cm from the lower edge of the armhole. Attach the sleeves to the front. Serge the seams and press.
  6. Stitch the sleeve seam and side seam in one continuous seam. Serge the seams and press them open/towards the back.
  7. Serge the neckline edge. Fold to the wrong side, press, and topstitch.
  8. Serge the bottom edge of the garment and the sleeve hems with a narrow edge stitch.
  9. Thread the drawstring as shown in the diagram and pull to gather.
  10. Attach the placket to the raglan seams of the back and front with a 1 cm stitch.
