Tech. Description

Knit Crossover Placket Décolleté Top

Introducing a versatile women's sewing pattern for a chic knit top featuring a unique open back design with elegant crossover plackets.

When To Wear

This stylish top is perfect for adding a touch of sophisticated flair to various occasions, making it an ideal choice for:

  • Casual Chic Outings: Pair with jeans or trousers for a comfortable yet fashionable everyday look.
  • Evening & Social Gatherings: Elevate your style for dinners or events with its distinctive back detail.
  • Layering & Transitional Wear: A versatile piece that works well under jackets or on its own across seasons.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: A fitted, hip-length top designed to flatter the figure.

Neckline: Features a wide boat neck at the front for a classic look, transitioning to a deep, open décolleté at the back.

Back: The standout design element, showcasing two wide fabric plackets that elegantly cross over each other centrally, creating a refined open-back detail.

Sleeves: Long, set-in sleeves provide full arm coverage and a sleek finish.

Hem: Straight hemline for both the body and sleeves, designed for a neat finish.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires familiarity with sewing knit fabrics, precise attachment of curved bands, and attention to detail for the crossover back construction.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose knit fabrics with good stretch and drape to best showcase the design:

  • Knit fabric of medium to high stretch, made from natural or blended fibers

Additional Supplies

  • Double needle for knit fabric

Fabric & Materials

Pattern pieces made from knit fabrics should be sewn with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.6 – 0.8 cm. Hem allowances are topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity.

Cutting Plan

From main fabric:

  • 1. Back – 1 piece
  • 2. Front – 1 piece
  • 3. Sleeve – 2 pieces
  • 4. Lower placket – 1 piece
  • 5. Upper placket – 1 piece
