Tech. Description

One Shoulder Top with Sleeve Options

A women's one-shoulder top for knit fabric with a diagonal neckline and a single set-in sleeve in three lengths: short, three-quarter and long. The other shoulder and arm are left bare. The photos show one sleeve length. The pattern has one full-length sleeve; for a short or three-quarter sleeve, shorten it to the length you want.

When To Wear

  • In summer with the short sleeve, with jeans, trousers or a skirt.
  • For evenings out with the three-quarter or long sleeve, worn with trousers or a fitted skirt.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Close-fitting, following the body to the hips.

Length: Hip length, with a straight hem.

Neckline: Asymmetric, running in a straight diagonal line from one shoulder to the opposite underarm. The edge is folded to the wrong side and topstitched, with no band or facing.

Sleeves: One set-in, one-piece sleeve on the covered shoulder, in three lengths: short, three-quarter and full length to the wrist.

Back: One piece, joined to the front by a single shoulder seam and two side seams.

Finishing: Shoulder and side seams are pressed towards the back. Hem, sleeve hem and neckline are turned under and topstitched; a twin needle keeps the hems stretchy.

Level Of Difficulty

Beginner. Three pieces, one sleeve set into the armhole by matching notches, and turned-and-topstitched edges. Basic experience with a stretch or narrow zigzag stitch and a twin needle is needed.

Fabric Recommendations

Knit fabric with medium or high stretch, made from natural or blended fibres.

Additional Supplies

  • A twin needle for topstitching the hems

Cutting Plan

  • From main fabric:
  • 1. Back – 1 piece
  • 2. Front – 1 piece
  • 3. Sleeve – 1 piece

Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.6 – 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity.
