Scoop Neck Top with Sleeve Options

A women's close-fitting top for knit fabric with a low scoop neckline and set-in sleeves in three lengths: short, three-quarter and long. Front, back and sleeves are each cut as one piece. The photos show one sleeve length. The pattern has one full-length sleeve; for a short or three-quarter sleeve, shorten it to the length you want.

When To Wear

• With short sleeves in summer, with jeans, trousers or a skirt.
• With three-quarter or long sleeves in spring, autumn and winter, on its own or as a layer under a jacket or cardigan.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Close-fitting, following the body through the waist and hips.

Length: Hip length, with a straight hem.

Neckline: Low, wide scoop neckline at the front, finished by folding the edge to the wrong side and topstitching, with no band or facing.

Sleeves: Set-in, one-piece sleeves in three lengths: short, three-quarter and full length to the wrist.

Back: One piece with no centre back seam.

Finishing: Shoulder and side seams are pressed towards the back. Hem, sleeve hems and neckline are turned under and topstitched; a twin needle keeps the hems stretchy.

Level Of Difficulty

Beginner. Shoulder and side seams, sleeves set into the armholes by matching notches, and turned-and-topstitched edges. Basic experience with a stretch or narrow zigzag stitch and a twin needle is needed.

Fabric Recommendations

Knit fabric with medium or high stretch, made from natural or blended fibres.
