Cutting Plan
- Center back piece – 2 pieces (from main fabric)
- Side back piece – 2 pieces (from main fabric)
- Center front piece – 1 piece (from main fabric)
- Side front piece – 2 pieces (from main fabric)
- Center front facing – 1 piece (from main fabric)
- Side front facing – 2 pieces (from main fabric)
- Back facing – 2 pieces (from main fabric)
- Back facing – 2 pieces (from fusible interfacing)
- Center front facing – 1 piece (from fusible interfacing)
- Side front facing – 2 pieces (from fusible interfacing)
Sewing Instructions
- Apply fusible interfacing to the back facings, center front facing, and side front facings.
- Stitch the neckline edge of the front with its facing. Turn out the seam and press.
- Stitch the back facings and side front facings along the side edges. Serge/overlock seams and press open. Serge/overlock the lower edge of all facings.
- Stitch the princess seams on the back. Serge/overlock and press towards the center. Stitch the side seams. Serge/overlock seams and press towards the back.
- Serge/overlock the center back edge. Stitch the center back seam up to the zipper notch. Press open the center back seam, pressing the zipper opening allowances. Insert the zipper.
- Stitch the princess seams of the front, matching notches.
- Stitch the facings along the center collar line. Stitch the side front pieces along the center collar line. Serge/overlock seams and press.
- Place the facing and side front piece right sides together. Stitch the collar edge, collar corners, and then attach the facing to the princess seam of the front. Clip the seam allowance at the corner. Serge/overlock the seam from the corner to the hemline and press towards the side piece. Turn out the collar and press.
- Place the back and facing right sides together. Stopping 5 mm before the edges of the invisible closure, fold back the facing and pin to the upper edge of the top. On the right side of the top, fold back the allowances along the zipper and pin to the upper edge over the facing. Stitch the upper edges of the back. Fold the allowances along the closure to the wrong side. Fold the facing up and topstitch along the back onto the seam allowance 1-2 mm from the seam. Fold the facing to the wrong side and attach to the zipper tape. Press the pieces.
- Press the seam allowances of the front armhole and collar inwards. Topstitch the pieces together, stitching 0.2 cm from the edge.
- Serge/overlock the lower edge of the top, fold up and topstitch 1.5 cm from the lower edge.
