- Upper Front – 4 pieces
- Lower Front – 1 piece
- Back Facing – 2 pieces
- Front Facing – 1 piece
- Strap – cut to length (no pattern piece)
- From fusible interfacing:
- Back Facing – 1 piece
- Front Facing – 1 piece
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the back facing and front facing.
- Mark and stitch the waist darts on the front and back. Press the darts on the front towards the center of the front, and on the back towards the center of the back.
- Place the upper front pieces right sides together in pairs and stitch along the center edge. Stitch the pieces along the upper and lower edges, stopping 1 cm before the center seam. Stitch the lower edge from the notch towards the center seam. At the notch near the lower edge, clip the seam up to the stitching line. Turn the pieces right side out and press. Topstitch along the center seam 1 cm from the edge.
- Stitch the upper front to the lower front from the side seam to the notch. Stitch the front facing to the upper edge of the lower front. Turn the facing to the inside and press. Overlock the lower edge of the facing.
- Overlock the center back edges. Stitch the center back seam up to the zipper notch. Press the seam open, also pressing the zipper opening allowances. Insert the invisible zipper.
- Overlock the lower edge of the back facing.
- Place the back and the back facing right sides together. Stopping 5 mm short of the zipper edges, fold back the facing and pin it to the upper edge of the dress. Fold the seam allowances along the zipper to the right side of the dress and pin them to the upper edge over the facing. Stitch along the upper edge. Turn the allowances along the zipper to the wrong side. Fold the facing up and understitch it to the seam allowance 1-2 mm from the seam. Turn the facing to the wrong side and attach it to the zipper tape. Press.
- Turn the back wrong side out. Sandwich the front between the back and the back facing and stitch the side seams. Overlock the side seams of the dress. Turn the dress right side out, press the seams towards the back.
- Overlock the lower edge of the dress, fold up and topstitch 1.5 cm from the lower edge.
- Cut the strap. Fold the strap lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch 0.5 cm from the fold. Turn the strap right side out and press. Thread the strap through the openings in the upper front and tie it as shown in the drawing.
