  • Formal Dinners & Special Events: The elegant design and fluid silhouette make it ideal for upscale gatherings.
  • Celebrations & Weddings: a refined choice for wedding guests or festive parties.
  • Stylish Day-to-Evening Wear: Easily transitions from chic daytime events to sophisticated evening affairs.

Silhouette: Fitted through the bodice and waist, flowing into a graceful floor-length skirt.

Neckline: Features a chic crossover V-neck at the front and a matching crossover V at the back, with edges finished in bias binding.

Bodice: Crossover upper front and upper back panels, cut in one with the wide shoulder straps, feature delicate gathers along the bottom edge, adding soft volume above the waist.

Sleeves: Sleeveless design, ideal for warm weather or layering.

Closure: Features an invisible zipper closure at the left side seam.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. This pattern involves skills such as creating gathers, setting one-way pleats, invisible zipper insertion, and finishing edges with bias binding.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose light to medium-weight fabrics with good drape and body to best showcase the gathers and pleats:

  • Light to medium-weight woven fabrics made from natural or blended fibers
  • Crepe, satin, silk blends, rayon challis, or lightweight linen blends

Additional Supplies

  • Invisible zipper
  • Fusible interfacing
  • Bias binding

Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
    1. Upper Back – 2 pieces
    2. Back Yoke – 2 pieces
    3. Upper Front – 2 pieces
    4. Front Yoke – 2 pieces
    5. Skirt – 1 piece
  • From fusible interfacing:
    1. Back Yoke – 1 piece
    2. Front Yoke – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to one Back Yoke and one Front Yoke piece.
  2. Stitch the shoulder seams of the matching Upper Back and Upper Front pieces. Overlock the seams and press them toward the back.
  3. Finish the inner (straight) edges of the Upper Back and Upper Front with bias binding. Leave the edge running from the side seam to the shoulder (armhole edge) unfinished for now.
  4. Sew a row of long, loose gathering stitches 0.5 cm from the edge along the lower edges of the Upper Back and Upper Front. Gather from the notch to the side seam.
  5. Place the Front Yoke pieces right sides together. Sandwich the Upper Front pieces between them, matching the notches, so that the right side of the Upper Front faces the right side of the interfaced yoke piece. Stitch through all layers in one seam. Overlock the seam, turn right side out, and press. Join the Back Yoke and Upper Back in the same way. From now on, treat each yoke as a single layer.
  6. Stitch the right side seam. Overlock and press the seam open.
  7. Mark and fold the one-way pleats on the Skirt.
  8. Place the lower edge of the yokes and the upper edge of the Skirt right sides together. Stitch, overlock, and press the seam upward. Topstitch 1 mm from the seam.
  9. Stitch the left side seam, leaving the zipper opening unstitched down to the notch. Overlock and press the seams open, also pressing the allowances of the zipper opening. Insert the zipper.
  10. Finish the remaining open (armhole) edges of the back and front with bias binding. Secure the ends of the bias binding by hand. Press.
  11. Overlock the lower edge of the dress, fold up, and topstitch 0.5 cm from the lower edge.
