Cropped Pants with Decorative Topstitching

• 1. Pocket LINING – 2 QTY
• FROM FUSIBLE INTERFACING: front FACINGS left and right, back FACING, flap, fly shield.

Sewing Instructions

1. Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the back FACING, front right and left FACINGS, flap, and fly shield.
2. Stitch the side edges of the front and back FACINGS. Press open the side seams of the FACINGS.
3. Attach the middle FRONT PANEL to the left FRONT PANEL. Overcast the attaching seam, press it towards the middle part, and topstitch at a distance of 0.5 cm from the attaching seam. Attach the lower FRONT PANEL to the middle part. Overcast the attaching seam, press it towards the lower part, and topstitch at a distance of 0.5 cm from the attaching seam. Attach the left SIDE PANEL to the left FRONT PANEL. Overcast the attaching seam, press it towards the side part, and topstitch at a distance of 0.5 cm from the attaching seam. Stitch the right FRONT PANEL pieces similarly to the left.
4. Attach the lower BACK PANEL to the upper BACK PANEL. Overcast the seam, press it towards the lower part, and topstitch at a distance of 0.5 cm from the attaching seam. Overcast the seam, press it, and topstitch at a distance of 0.5 cm from the seam.
5. Mark and stitch the darts on the back pant panel. Press the darts towards the center.
6. Place the pocket LINING on the front pant panel, right sides together, and stitch around the pocket opening. Understitch the seam, clipping the SEAM ALLOWANCES. Topstitch along the pocket opening at a distance of 0.5 cm from the pocket edge and press. Remove temporary basting stitches. Align the front pant panel with the marking on the side FRONT PANEL that defines the pocket opening. Secure the side FRONT PANEL to the front pant panel along the upper and side edges with a 1 cm stitch. Stitch and overcast the pocket LINING.
7. Overcast the edges: side edge, inseam edge, front center edge and fly edge, back center edge.
8. Place the flap pieces right sides together and stitch around. Trim the SEAM ALLOWANCES at the flap corners and turn out. Topstitch along the outer contour of the flap at a distance of 0.5 cm from the edge. Overcast the upper edge of the flap.
9. Overcast the outer contour of the pocket and press it according to the pattern. Topstitch the upper edge onto the pocket, mark the pocket placement on the front pant panel, and topstitch it along the contour at a distance of 0.2 cm from the pocket edge. Place the flap to the marking and topstitch it. Turn the flap to the right side and topstitch at a distance of 0.5 cm from the seam.
10. Stitch and press open the side seams. Stitch and press open the inseams.
11. Stitch the front edge and the center edge up to the NOTCH for the ZIPPER. Stitch a second line along the seat seam next to the stitching line of the front and center seam. Topstitch at a distance of 0.5 cm from the seam.
12. Press the integrated ZIPPER FACINGS to the wrong side. Attach the ZIPPER under the edge of the fly SEAM ALLOWANCE (left side) to the edge. Attach the free ZIPPER tape to the right panel to the integrated FACING. Fold the fly shield in half lengthwise and stitch the short lower edge. Overcast the long edge of the fly shield. Topstitch the integrated ZIPPER FACING onto the fly shield on the left pant panel. Topstitch the right edge of the opening, catching the FACING.
13. Place the FACING pieces right sides together and stitch the upper edge. Turn the FACINGS to the right side and press. Understitch the seam, creating a piping effect.
14. Overcast the outer edge of the lower FACINGS. Cut belt loops to size, mark the placement of the belt loops. Attach the belt loops to the lower edge of the FACINGS. Attach the FACINGS to the upper edge of the pants, aligning the side seams. Stitch the corners of the FACINGS. Trim the SEAM ALLOWANCES at the corners, turn out and press. Topstitch the overcast edge of the FACING at a distance of 0.5 cm from the FACING attaching seam. Topstitch along the contour of the FACINGS. Remove basting stitches and topstitch the belt loops to the upper edge of the FACINGS.
15. Overcast the hem SEAM ALLOWANCE and press it to the wrong side. Topstitch the SEAM ALLOWANCE to the pants. On the right FACING, overcast buttonholes, and on the left, sew on buttons.
