Pants with Ribbed Waist and Cuffs

Women's full-length pull-on pants with wide, straight legs gathered into rib-knit ankle cuffs, and a rib-knit waistband with 3 cm elastic inside. No fly, no darts and no pockets.

When To Wear

  • In warm weather, made in thin silk, with loose blouses, tank tops and T-shirts.
  • For travel and time at home, with flat shoes or trainers.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Loose, full legs that are eased into the cuffs at the ankle and blouse over them.

Length: Full length, ending in cuffs at the ankle.

Waist: Rib-knit waistband sewn into a ring, with elastic attached along its lower edge; the top of the pants is eased into it.

Closure: None, the pants pull on.

Legs: Four pieces only: two fronts and two backs. Side seams and inseams are pressed towards the back; the seat seam is stitched twice.

Finishing: Rib-knit cuffs sewn into a ring and stretched onto the eased hem; all seams overlocked.

Level Of Difficulty

Beginner. Straight seams, no closure; the only care needed is easing slippery silk evenly into stretched rib-knit bands.
