Tech. Description

Yoked Pleated A-Line Mini Skirt

A women's denim mini skirt with a deep shaped yoke at front and back and a pleated lower skirt that flares to the hem. The top edge is finished with an interfaced facing, and the skirt closes with a zip at the centre back.

When To Wear

  • In spring and summer with a T-shirt, a tucked-in shirt or a fitted knit top.
  • In autumn with tights, ankle boots and a jacket.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Close-fitting yoke over the hips, flared lower skirt.

Length: Mini, above the knee.

Waist: No waistband; the upper edge of the yoke is faced, with the facing understitched 0.2 cm from the seam.

Front: One-piece front yoke with a curved lower edge that dips at the centre. Below it the skirt is laid in pleats, with an inverted pleat at the centre front over the centre front seam.

Back: Two-piece back yoke shaped with darts; pleats below the yoke as on the front.

Closure: Zip in the centre back seam through the yoke and the top of the skirt.

Finishing: Pleats pressed and stitched 0.5 cm from the top edge before the yoke is attached; yoke seam overlocked and pressed up onto the yoke; hem turned up 2 cm and topstitched.

Level Of Difficulty

Beginner. Few pieces; the work is in folding the pleats accurately by the notches, setting the zip and finishing the faced top edge.
