Tech. Description

Raglan Blouse with Lace Bell Sleeves

A women's fitted knit blouse to the hip with princess seams on the front and back, and long two-piece raglan sleeves that flare widely through a triangular gore set into the upper sleeve seam.

When To Wear

  • In spring and autumn with straight trousers or a pencil skirt.
  • For evenings out when trimmed with guipure.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted, shaped by princess seams running from the raglan seams to the hem on the front and back.

Length: Hip length, straight hem turned up and topstitched.

Neckline: Wide round neckline, overlocked, turned under and topstitched.

Sleeves: Raglan sleeves cut in two pieces (front and back sleeve). The upper seam is stitched from the neckline down to a notch, and below it a triangular gore is set in, so the sleeve widens into a deep bell at the hem.

Front: Centre front and two side fronts; no closure, the blouse is pulled on.

Back: Centre back and two side backs.

Finishing: Seams sewn with a narrow zigzag or stretch stitch; edges overlocked and hemmed with a twin needle so they keep their stretch.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Princess seams and set-in sleeve gores in knit fabric, with stretch stitching and twin-needle hems.

Fabric Recommendations

For knit fabric only: knitted fabrics for the garment, guipure for trim.
