Key Design Features

Silhouette: Close-fitting band top that ends just below the bust.

Neckline: Halter: two self-fabric straps sewn to the front at the marks and tied at the back of the neck.

Front: Each cup has a front and a side section joined by a vertical seam topstitched close to the edge. A faced upper band runs along the top of each cup. The cups are set into a centre front band cut on the fold.

Back: Interfaced side back panels and a centre back insert: a tube of fabric stitched into casings, with elastic threaded through and the fabric gathered on it. No fastening; the top pulls on over the head.

Finishing: Upper and lower edges of the front and back turned to the wrong side and topstitched; side seams and cup seams topstitched close to the edge; straps edge-stitched.

Sewing Instructions

Fuse fusible interfacing to the side back, front, side, front, and upper cup parts.
Stitch the side and front cup parts. Topstitch the front parts along the seams close to the edge. Attach the upper parts to the cups.
Stitch the side seams. Topstitch the side parts along the seams close to the edge. Fold the upper and lower edge seam allowances of the front and back to the wrong side and topstitch.
Attach the cups to the front, topstitch along the seams close to the edge. Fold the upper cup parts right sides together and stitch. Fold to the wrong side, fold under the lower edge, and sew to the seams. Topstitch along the upper edge and the attachment seam.
Fold the insert in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch the long side. Turn the insert right side out and press so that the seam is in the middle of the insert. Make decorative stitches to create casings, insert elastic trim strip, and gather the fabric onto it. Secure the trim strip and attach the insert to the side back PANELs. Topstitch the side parts along the seams.
Fold the straps in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch along the long sides and one short side. Turn the straps right side out, press, and topstitch close to the edge. Sew the straps to the front according to the markings.
