One-Shoulder Dress Asymmetrical Hem

Introducing a women's sewing pattern for a chic one-shoulder dress featuring a fitted bodice with shaping seams and a fluid, asymmetrical hem skirt.

When To Wear

This dress is ideal for:

  • Cocktail Parties & Semi-Formal Gatherings: Its elegant one-shoulder design and fluid drape are perfect for sophisticated evening events.
  • Summer Events & Garden Parties: The light knit fabric and playful asymmetrical hem offer comfort and style for warmer occasions.
  • Statement Everyday Wear: When crafted from a comfortable knit, this dress can be styled for an elevated, contemporary look.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted through the bodice with defined shaping seams, flowing into a full, A-line skirt.

Neckline: A contemporary one-shoulder design, gracefully exposing one shoulder while covering the other with a wide strap.

Closure: An invisible zipper discreetly placed along the left side seam for a seamless fit.

Sleeves: Sleeveless on the exposed shoulder side, with the other side forming part of the one-shoulder bodice.

Back: Mirrors the one-shoulder design of the front, featuring vertical shaping seams for a tailored fit.

Hem: A dynamic asymmetrical hemline creates visual interest and movement, with a flounced, undulating edge.

Waist: Defined by a horizontal seam, accentuating the natural waist before the skirt flares.

Length: A mini-to-knee length, varying with the asymmetrical hem, offering a playful yet elegant appeal.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires experience with knit fabrics, invisible zipper installation, and achieving clean, topstitched edges.
