Fabric & Materials

Recommendations for working with sequined fabrics. The recommended fabric is embroidered with sequins. Before stitching seams, remove sequins from SEAM ALLOWANCES up to the seam line, and at the seam line, additionally secure them with a couple of stitches so they don't come off. Before stitching seams, it is advisable to install a special ZIPPER foot on the sewing machine so that the foot slides only over the SEAM ALLOWANCES where the sequins have already been removed. Otherwise, you can sew the seams by hand with small, dense backstitches; in this case, it is not necessary to remove sequins from the SEAM ALLOWANCES.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch darts on the FRONT PANEL and BACK PANEL on both main and LINING fabric pieces. Stitch the center back seam. Fold the BACK PANEL LINING with the main BACK PANEL right sides together and stitch along the upper edge.
  2. Fold the FRONT PANEL LINING with the main fabric wrong sides together and baste along the edges. Fold the integrated FACING to the right side and stitch along the armhole edges. Turn to the right side and press.
  3. Stitch the side seams, leaving an opening for the ZIPPER in the left side seam. Press the ZIPPER allowances to the wrong side. Place the ZIPPER under the edges of the opening and stitch so that the teeth are not visible.
  4. Fold the straps in half lengthwise, right sides out, and press. Unfold the TRIM STRIP, fold the edges towards the fold line to the wrong side, and fold the TRIM STRIP along this fold. Topstitch close to the edge. Sew the front ends of the straps under the corners of the FRONT PANEL. Put on the dress, adjust the length of the straps, and sew their back ends to the BACK PANEL.
  5. Finish the bottom of the dress with a 1 cm hem, ensuring the LINING is 2 cm shorter than the dress.
