Sewing Instructions
- Reinforce back and front FACINGS, and pocket FACINGS with FUSIBLE INTERFACING (Heat-activated interfacings are pressed onto the wrong side of the fabric with a hot iron).
- Stitch darts, press dart depths towards the center.
- Process welt pockets on the back pant halves: Press a strip of FUSIBLE INTERFACING approx. 4 cm wide onto the wrong side of the back pant half, over the pocket marking. Press pocket FACINGS in half lengthwise, right side out. Pin the bottom FACING along the marked pocket opening line, with the raw edge towards the marked line, and the pocket bag on top, with its raw edge towards the marking. Stitch 1 cm from the line. Cut the back pant half lengthwise between the stitching lines, and diagonally towards the ends of the stitching. Be careful not to damage the FACINGS and pocket bags! Press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the pants. Turn FACINGS to the wrong side to form a neat frame, and baste. From the right side of the pants, stitch exactly into the FACING attachment seam. Turn small triangles at the ends of the slit to the wrong side and topstitch onto the FACING, precisely from the ends of one stitching line to the ends of the other. From the wrong side of the pants, stitch the free end of the pocket bag to the SEAM ALLOWANCES of the FACING attachment, press pocket bags down, align and stitch.
- Process welt pockets on the front pant halves: similar to back pockets. Stitch the large pocket bag along the marked seam line for pocket bag attachment. Stitch the small one to the SEAM ALLOWANCE of the FACING attachment.
- Sew side and inseam seams, leaving an opening for the ZIPPER. Overcast and press open SEAM ALLOWANCES.
- Stitch the center seam.
- Insert the ZIPPER so that the teeth are not visible.
- Stitch FACING pieces together, leaving the left side seam open. Fold the FACING with the pants and stitch along the upper edge. Fold the FACING to the wrong side, press. Turn under the short sides of the FACINGS and attach to the ZIPPER tape.
- Press the hem of the pants inwards, turn under the raw edges and hand stitch.
