Additional Supplies

  • Fusible interfacing (waistband)
  • 1 zip
  • 1 button

Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
  • Skirt Gore – 8 pieces
  • Waistband – 1 piece
  • From fusible interfacing: Waistband.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Reinforce the Waistband with fusible interfacing.
  2. Stitch all the seams joining the Skirt Gores, leaving an unstitched section for the zipper in the right side seam. Press seam allowances open. Insert the zipper.
  3. Place the Waistband on the upper edge of the skirt, right sides together, and stitch, leaving the closure extension projecting at the right back end of the Waistband. Fold the Waistband ends right sides together and stitch them closed, then turn. Turn under the inner edge of the Waistband and topstitch from the right side into the seam. On the left end of the Waistband, make a buttonhole; on the right, sew on a button.
  4. Press the hem allowance to the wrong side, fold under, and topstitch.
