Fabric Recommendations

  • Cotton twill
  • Light denim
  • Linen blends
  • Gabardine

Additional Supplies

  • Lining fabric
  • Fusible interfacing

CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric:
    1. FRONT PANEL - 1 piece on fold
    2. BACK PANEL - 2 pieces
    3. Pocket - 2 pieces
    4. TRIM STRIP for tie, 1.00 m long and 3 cm wide, including SEAM ALLOWANCES.
  • From LINING fabric: cut FRONT PANEL and BACK PANELs.
  • From FUSIBLE INTERFACING: reinforce the integrated FACINGs of the FRONT PANELs with interfacing. Additionally, iron on a 5 cm wide strip of interfacing along the upper edges of the panels (cut strips to the shape of the edges).

Sewing Instructions

  1. On each pocket, press the SEAM ALLOWANCE along the slanted pocket opening to the wrong side, fold under to a width of 1 cm and topstitch close to the edge and at a distance of 0.75 cm. Press the SEAM ALLOWANCES along the front and lower edges of the pocket to the wrong side.
  2. Pin the pocket to the FRONT PANEL, aligning the side and upper edges of the panel and the pocket. Topstitch the pocket along the front and lower edges close to the edge and at a distance of 0.75 cm. Baste the side and upper edges.
  3. Stitch the center seam of the BACK PANEL, leaving the slit open at the bottom. Press the SEAM ALLOWANCES to the left, at the upper end of the slit, clip the right SEAM ALLOWANCE.

  6. Stitch the seams on the LINING pieces, leaving the slit open at the bottom of the back center seam. Fold the LINING with the skirt, wrong side to wrong side, and baste the upper edges. Hem the bottom of the LINING so that the LINING is 2 cm shorter than the skirt. Fold under the SEAM ALLOWANCE on the LINING along the lower slit and sew to the SEAM ALLOWANCES along the edges of the slit.
  7. On the waistband, overcast the buttonholes according to the markings. Press the integrated FACING of the skirt top (3 cm wide) to the wrong side and topstitch for the casing at a distance of 2 cm.
