Fabric & Materials

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: Blouse fabrics made of natural or blended fibers in contrasting colors. ALSO NEEDED: Fusible interfacing; decorative buckle 3cm long; brooch.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: Hem allowance – 2 cm; all other seams – 1 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can range from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

  • From main fabric:
    • Back - 1 piece on fold
    • Right front - 1 piece
    • Front neckline facing – 1 piece
    • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
  • From main fabric 1:
    • Left front – 1 piece
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Front neckline facing – 1 piece
    • Back neckline facing – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
  2. Stitch darts on the front pieces. Press dart allowances upwards. Stitch darts on the back piece. Press dart allowances towards the center.
  3. Stitch side and shoulder seams, press allowances towards the back and serge.
  4. Serge the bottom hem allowance, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  5. Serge the center front edges. Fold the center front allowance of the left front to the wrong side and topstitch. Clip the allowance at the mark on the right front. Fold the center front allowance of the right front to the wrong side. Overlap the right front over the left according to the marks and topstitch.
  6. Stitch shoulder seams of neckline facings. Press allowances open. Serge the outer edge.
  7. Place facing and blouse right sides together and stitch the back neckline and front neckline opening, inserting the buckle. Clip allowances at corners and curves, turn facing to the wrong side and press. Attach facing to shoulder seams.
  8. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 5 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch. Clip allowances. Fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
  9. Pin the brooch to the blouse.
