Sleeveless Wrap V-Neck Midi Dress

Pattern #4951
Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: light dress fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: lining fabric; concealed zipper, 2 buttons.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for the dress bottom – 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can range from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). Cutting pieces from lining fabric are cut according to the main fabric patterns!

  • From main fabric:
    • Upper back part - 2 pieces
    • Back waistband — 2 pieces
    • Lower back part - 2 pieces
    • Upper front part – 2 pieces
    • Lower front part — 1 piece with fold
    • Front waistband - 2 pieces
    • Waistband facing - 1 piece
  • From lining fabric:
    • Upper back part – 2 pieces
    • Upper front part – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  1. Lay and secure pleats along the upper edge of the lower front and back parts. Depths are directed towards the center.
  2. Stitch darts on the back and back lining pieces, press depths towards the center.
  3. Stitch shoulder and side seams on the main fabric and lining pieces. Press seams open.
  4. Place the upper part of the dress with the lining right sides together and stitch the neckline. Stitch the armhole in two stages: front armhole, then back armhole. Clip seam allowances at curves, turn the lining to the wrong side.
  5. Secure the main fabric and lining along the lower edge. Along the lower edge of the upper front part, between the marks, stitch with a loosened top thread and gather.
  6. Stitch the front waistbands to the back waistbands. Overcast seams and press towards the back.
  7. Stitch the waistbands to the upper front and back parts, overcast seam allowances and press downwards. Place the waistband facing on the right part of the waistband and stitch along the middle and lower edges. Start and end the stitching strictly at the marked attachment line. Clip the lower seam allowance of the facing and waistband, stopping 0.1 cm before the end of the stitching. Clip the seam allowance at the corner, turn to the wrong side. Clip the upper seam allowance of the facing at the end of the marked upper attachment line. Fold the upper seam allowance of the facing inwards and topstitch into the attachment seam. Place the right part of the dress over the left, secure along the center line and stitch the waistband facing and the left front waistband. Overcast seam allowance.
  8. Stitch the side seams of the lower dress parts. Overcast seam allowances and press towards the back. Stitch the dress skirt to the waistband, folding back the right upper front part. Marks on the lower edge of the waistband correspond to the central pleats.
  9. Overcast the center back seam separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the bottom, press seams open. Insert the zipper.
  10. Overcast the bottom edge of the dress, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  11. Sew decorative buttons onto the waistband.
