Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. You will also need: fusible interlining, 6 buttons.
Cutter's Must
If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: hem allowance — 2.5 cm, other seams 1 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need.
- From main fabric:
- Upper back – 2 pieces
- Back waistband — 1 piece
- Lower back — 2 pieces
- Front yoke — 4 pieces
- Upper front — 2 pieces
- Front waistband — 2 pieces
- Lower front — 2 pieces
- Sleeve — 2 pieces
- Cuff — 2 pieces
- Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
- Front neckline facing – 2 pieces
- From fusible interlining:
- Cuff — 2 pieces
- Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
- Front neckline facing – 2 pieces
Sewing Instructions
When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
- Fuse interlining to the designated pieces. Also fuse the one-piece facing to the front waistband and lower front.
- Stitch darts on the upper and lower back pieces, press depths towards the center. Stitch the center seam on the upper and lower back pieces, press allowances to the left side and overlock.
- Attach the back waistband to the upper back, press allowances towards the waistband and overlock. Attach the lower back to the waistband, press allowances towards the waistband and overlock.
- Stitch darts on the upper and lower front pieces, press depths towards the center.
- Overlock the inner edge of the front neckline facing. Place it with the upper front right sides together and stitch the neckline. Turn the facing to the wrong side, straighten, and press.
- Along the upper edge of the upper front, stitch with a loosened thread and gather. Place the front yoke pieces right sides together, insert the upper front between them and stitch. Clip allowances on curves, turn the yoke to the right side, and press. Then treat the yokes as one piece.
- Attach the front waistband to the lower front, press allowances towards the waistband and overlock. Overlock the center edge. Place the upper front with the waistband right sides together, fold the one-piece facing to the right side, wrapping around the upper of the dress, and stitch. Press allowances towards the waistband and overlock. Turn the facing to the wrong side, and press.
- Stitch side seams, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
- Stitch the center seam of the back neckline facing, press allowances open. Overlock the lower edge. Place the back neckline facing with the main piece right sides together and stitch the upper edge exactly to the marked shoulder seam line. Clip allowances.
- Stitch shoulder seams, sandwiching the front piece between the back neckline facing and the main back piece. Press allowances towards the back, overlock. Turn pieces to the right side, and press. Secure the center seam allowances of the facing to the back.
- Stitch the sleeve seam, press allowances towards the back and overlock. Stitch along the sleeve cap and lower edge with a loosened thread and gather. Set sleeves into armholes, matching notches. Press and overlock allowances.
- Stitch the cuff into a loop, press allowances open. Press the cuff lengthwise in half, right side out. Attach the outer side of the cuff to the sleeve, fold the allowance of the inner side inwards and topstitch into the seam of the outer side attachment.
- Overlock the lower edge of the garment, press to the wrong side and hem with blind stitches.
- On the right front, overlock buttonholes, on the left front, sew on buttons. On the left front, overlock an inner buttonhole, sew on a hidden button.
