When To Wear

In spring and summer, for everyday wear with flat sandals or sneakers.
During pregnancy: the dress has no waist seam and widens freely from the bust down.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: A-line, flaring from the shoulders, with no waist seam or darts.

Length: Long. The outer dress is shorter, with a curved hem that rises at the centre front and falls lower at the sides and back; the inner dress is longer and shows below it.

Neckline: Round neckline, finished by stitching the outer and inner dresses together at the neck edge, with no separate facing.

Front: A placket with pressed-under edges is topstitched onto the outer front and trimmed with five buttons. There is no opening; the dress is pulled on over the head.

Sleeves: Three-quarter length, one-piece set-in sleeves, set through both layers.

Back: Outer and inner backs each cut in one piece on the fold.

Finishing: Hems of both layers and the sleeves turned under twice by 1 cm and topstitched.

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, seam allowances are included. If the contour is single, seam allowances are not included. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for dress bottom and sleeve bottom – 2.0 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical details). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

From main fabric:
- Outer Back – 1 piece (cut on fold)
- Inner Back – 1 piece (cut on fold)
- Outer Front – 1 piece (cut on fold)
- Inner Front – 1 piece (cut on fold)
- Sleeve – 2 pieces
- Placket – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

Press the allowances of the long sides and one short side of the Placket to the wrong side. Place the Placket on the Outer Front and topstitch.
Stitch the shoulder and side seams of the outer dress (Outer Front, Outer Back) and the inner dress (Inner Front, Inner Back), press allowances towards the back and overlock.
Place the inner dress and the outer dress together at the neckline and stitch the neckline edge. Clip allowances, turn the dress right side out, straighten the seam and press. Baste the two layers together along the armhole edges.
Stitch the sleeve seam, press allowances and overlock. Set the sleeves into the armholes matching notches, press allowances, overlock.
Press the hem allowance of the dress bottom and sleeve bottom to the wrong side by 1cm, then again by 1cm, and topstitch.
Sew the buttons onto the Placket.
