When To Wear

  • In summer and warm spring days, with a straight or pencil skirt or trousers.
  • For the office or daytime events, tucked in or worn loose.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Straight and loose, with no darts.

Length: Hip length, straight hem.

Neckline: Round, finished with a narrow band of two interfaced front neck facings and a back neckline facing.

The flounce, its outer edge finished with a narrow rolled hem and its inner edge gathered or laid in random pleats, is sewn to the centre edge of the left front and along a marked diagonal line.

Back: One piece with no seams or darts.

Finishing: Shoulder and side seams pressed toward the back and overlocked; 1.5 cm hem turned up and topstitched.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. An asymmetric front with a sandwiched placket, a rolled-hem flounce set into a seam and along a diagonal, and a shoulder opening built into the neckline facings.

Fabric Recommendations

Blouse fabrics from natural or blended fibres.

Additional Supplies

  • Fusible interfacing (neckline facings, front placket, left front cut-on placket)
  • 1 button

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances; if the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: Hem allowance for the garment bottom – 1.5 cm; sleeve hem allowance – 2 cm; outer ruffle allowance – 0 cm; Other allowances – 1.0 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match! Attention! Markings on the patterns are on the right side.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces. The cut-on placket of the Left Front is also interfaced.
  2. On the Left Front, fold the cut-on placket along the marked line to the right side and press.
  3. Finish the outer edge of the Flounce with a narrow rolled hem. Along the inner edge, sew a line of stitching with loosened upper thread tension and gather, or fold and baste random pleats. Baste the Flounce to the center edge of the Left Front and along the diagonal line marked with a wavy symbol. Fold the cut-on placket along the marked line to the right side, fold the allowance inwards, and topstitch 0.2 cm from the edge.
  4. Place the Front Placket face down on the wrong side of the Right Front, sandwiching the Left Front between them (right side facing the placket), and stitch. Fold back the Left Front and the placket, press the allowance towards the Right Front. Fold the placket onto the right side of the Right Front, fold the placket allowance inwards and press. Topstitch the placket to the Right Front 0.2 cm from the edge.
  5. Place the Front Neck Facings right sides together and stitch along the upper edge and the rounded section up to the mark. Trim allowances, clip curves. Turn the facing to the right side and press. Work the buttonhole. Stitch the outer facing to the front neckline, turn under the allowance of the inner facing and stitch it in the ditch of the attaching seam.
  6. Overlock the outer edge of the Back Neckline Facing. Place the facing face down on the Back and stitch along the neckline and the inner edge of the opening up to the mark. Start and end the stitching strictly at the marked attachment line. Trim allowances, clip curves. Turn the facing to the wrong side and press.
  7. Stitch the shoulder seams, positioning them between the outer and inner facings. On the left side, the Left Front is sandwiched between the facings. Press allowances towards the back, finish edges. Turn pieces to the right side.
  8. Stitch the side seams, press allowances towards the back and finish edges.
  9. Overlock the hem of the garment and the sleeve edges, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  10. Sew on the button.
