Sewing Instructions

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  1. Stitch shoulder seams of upper parts. Finish allowances and press towards the back.
  2. Finish the lower edge of the sleeve. Fold allowance inwards and topstitch. Form and secure pleats on the sleeve (matching large marks in pairs). Attach sleeve to front and back, simultaneously stitching the princess seams. Finish princess seams and press towards the center of the pieces.
  3. Stitch shoulder seams of facing and front facing. Finish allowances and press towards the back. Finish outer edges. Place facing and front facing right sides together with the upper part of the dress and stitch neckline and front edges. Clip allowances at corners, clip curves, turn right side out and press. Topstitch along the front edge. Finish buttonholes. Overlap right front edge over left and secure at the bottom edge.
  4. Stitch darts on lower front and back parts. Press depths towards the center of the pieces.
  5. Stitch side seams of upper and lower parts. Finish allowances and press towards the back. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and length equal to the length of the lower armhole + 5cm. Fold bias binding in half lengthwise right side out and press. Place binding with armhole edge right sides together and stitch. Clip allowances. Fold binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press seam.
  6. Attach lower parts of the dress to upper parts. Finish allowances and press upwards.
  7. On the left lower back part, trim 5 cm along the vertical edge of the vent. On both back pieces, interface the vent from the wrong side. On the right side, mark the center seam line (vent fold line). Press the left part along the vent fold line, on the right part, press only the allowance of the right side of the vent (6 cm) to the wrong side. Align pieces along the center seam and secure at the upper edge of the vent. Finish the center back seam separately on each piece. Finish vent allowances. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the vent corner. Clip the corner of the vent seam allowance on the right part. Press center seam allowances open, press vent allowances and secure them with machine stitching. Insert zipper.
