Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; 2 buttons.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for the dress bottom – 2 cm; allowance along the vent and along the center cut of the lower front part - 6 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical details). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Upper center back part - 2 pieces
    • Upper side back part - 2 pieces
    • Upper side front part — 2 pieces
    • Upper center front part - 2 pieces
    • Lower front part – 2 pieces
    • Lower back part – 2 pieces
    • Collar – 2 pieces
    • Front facing - 2 pieces
    • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
  • From lining fabric:
    • Upper center back part - 2 pieces
    • Upper side back part - 2 pieces
    • Upper side front part — 2 pieces
    • Upper center front part - 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Front facing - 2 pieces
    • Back neckline facing – 1 piece

Lining pieces are cut deducting the width of the front facing and back neckline facing.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the back princess seams. Press allowances open. Stitch the center back seam on the upper pieces, press allowances open. Stitch the dart on the lower part, press the depth towards the center. On the left lower back part, trim 5 cm along the vertical edge of the vent. On both back pieces, interface the vent from the wrong side. On the right side, mark the center seam line (vent fold line). Press the left part along the vent fold line, on the right part, press only the allowance of the right side of the vent (6 cm) to the wrong side. Align the pieces along the center seam and secure at the upper edge of the vent. Overlock the center back seam separately on each piece. Overlock the vent allowances. Stitch the center back seam from the top to the vent corner. Clip the corner of the vent seam allowance on the right part. Press the center seam allowances open, press the vent allowances and secure them with machine stitching.
  2. Stitch the front princess seams. Press allowances open. Stitch the dart on the lower part, press the depth towards the center.
  3. Stitch the side and shoulder seams of the upper parts. Press allowances open.
  4. Attach the lower collar to the neckline of the upper garment. Press allowances open.
  5. Stitch the shoulder seam of the front facing and back facing. Press allowance open. Stitch the lining seams. Attach the lining to the facing and front facing. Attach the upper collar to the lining neckline.
  6. Face the collars and front edges with lining. Stitch the neckline allowances together. Turn the lining to the wrong side and press. Equalize the hem lines and then treat as one piece. Face the armholes with lining in two steps: first the front armhole, then the back armhole.
  7. Stitch the side seams of the lower parts. Overlock and press allowances open.
  8. Overlock the integrated front facing of the lower panel. Overlock the lower edge of the upper part and the upper edge of the lower part. Stitch the upper and lower parts of the dress, wrapping the integrated front facing of the lower panel. Buttonholes are located in the waist seam. The waist seam is not stitched along the marks. Place a bar tack near the marks. Overlock allowances and press downwards.
  9. Overlock the lower edge of the dress, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  10. Sew on buttons.
