Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse the facing pieces with fusible interfacing.
  2. Stitch the princess seams of the back, press seam allowances towards the center and overlock.
  3. Overlock the center seams of the back separately. Stitch the center seam of the back from the zipper mark to the bottom edge, press seam allowances open. Insert the zipper.
  4. Stitch the darts on the front, press depths upwards. Overlock the bottom edge of the front, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  5. Overlock the outer edge of the flounce, press to the wrong side and topstitch. Place the flounce onto the front and secure along the side seam and armhole. Then treat the front as one piece.
  6. Stitch the side and shoulder seams, press seam allowances towards the back and overlock.
  7. Stitch the shoulder and side seams of the facings. Press seam allowances open. Overlock the center seams and the outer edge of the facing. Place the dress and facing right sides together and stitch the neckline. Clip seam allowances at curves, turn the facing out, straighten and press. Stitch the armhole in two steps: first the back, then the front. Clip seam allowances at curves, turn out, press. Secure the facing to the garment at the side seams. Attach the facing to the zipper tape.
  8. Overlock the bottom edge of the dress, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  9. Cut a bias binding 3 cm wide and 7 cm long. Fold the strip in half lengthwise and stitch 0.3 cm from the fold. Trim seam allowances and turn the piece right side out. Adjust the loop length and sew to the right flounce. Sew a button to the left flounce.
