Asymmetrical Overlay Maxi Dress

This women's sewing pattern creates an elegant sleeveless maxi dress featuring a cascading asymmetrical overskirt over a full-length lace underskirt, and delicate lace insets at the armholes.

When To Wear

This elegant maxi dress is perfect for a variety of occasions, including:

  • Formal Events: Its sophisticated design and maxi length make it ideal for weddings, galas, and upscale receptions.
  • Special Occasions: a unique choice for celebratory gatherings, anniversaries, or semi-formal parties.
  • Evening Wear: The delicate lace and flowing silhouette lend themselves beautifully to romantic dinners or special evening outings.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: a fitted bodice with darts transitions at the waist seam into a long skirt with an asymmetrical outer layer, creating dynamic movement.

Neckline: a classic round neckline finished with facings.

Sleeves: Sleeveless design with lace armhole insets for a touch of intricate detail.

Waist: a waist seam joins the bodice and skirt, defining the waistline.

Skirt: An outer skirt of main fabric with a shaped, cascading front edge opens on one side to reveal a full-length inner skirt of lace.

Back: a fitted back bodice with darts and a center back seam running the full length of the dress; the cascading edge of the outer skirt continues to the back, showing the lace underskirt.

Closure: a concealed zipper in the center back seam.
