Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the neckline FACING pieces.
  2. Stitch darts on the BACK PANEL, trim SEAM ALLOWANCES to 1 cm and press towards the center.
  3. Serge the center edges of the BACK PANEL separately. Stitch the center edge of the BACK PANEL from the ZIPPER mark to the bottom edge, press SEAM ALLOWANCES open. Insert the ZIPPER.
  4. Fold the strap right sides together along the indicated line and stitch along two edges. Turn the strap right side out and press.
  5. Stitch darts on the upper FRONT PANEL, trim SEAM ALLOWANCES to 1 cm and press towards the center.
  6. On the lower FRONT PANEL, create pleats. If necessary, slash the area between the pleats and the left part. Secure the pleats together. Serge the SEAM ALLOWANCES of the pleats and the left part. Serge the bottom, center, and top SEAM ALLOWANCES of the decorative piece. Fold the top SEAM ALLOWANCE inwards and press. Place the piece on the FRONT PANEL right side up to the indicated line. Insert the strap between the piece and the FRONT PANEL, so that when turned upwards, it covers the SEAM ALLOWANCES of the decorative piece and the pleats. Topstitch the decorative piece and the strap. Fold the attached pieces upwards and align the top edge of the strap with the top edge of the lower FRONT PANEL. Attach the lower FRONT PANEL to the upper, press SEAM ALLOWANCES upwards and serge. On the decorative piece, create arbitrary pleats and align them with the side seam. Hand stitch the inner edge of the piece to the pleat SEAM ALLOWANCES.
  7. Stitch the side and shoulder edges, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the BACK PANEL and serge.
  8. Cut (if not ready-made) a BIAS BINDING 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 5cm. Fold the BIAS BINDING in half lengthwise right side out and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch. Clip the SEAM ALLOWANCES. Fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
  9. Stitch the shoulder and side edges of the FACINGS. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES open. Serge the center edges and the outer edge of the FACING. Place the dress with the FACING right sides together and stitch the neckline. Clip SEAM ALLOWANCES at curves, turn the FACING out, straighten and press. Stitch the armhole in two steps: first the BACK PANEL, then the FRONT PANEL. Clip SEAM ALLOWANCES at curves, turn out, press. Secure the FACING to the garment at the side SEAM ALLOWANCES. Attach the FACING to the ZIPPER tape.
  10. Serge the bottom edge of the dress, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
