Sewing Instructions

1. Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to FACING pieces.
2. Stitch darts on upper BACK PANELs, press depths towards the center edge. Attach the back FACING to the upper BACK PANEL, clipping at the corner. Clip SEAM ALLOWANCES at curves, press towards the FACING. Attach the back insert to the upper part, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the insert and overcast.
3. Stitch the relief edges of the lower BACK PANEL, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the center and overcast. Attach the lower BACK PANEL to the back insert, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the insert, overcast.
4. Overcast the center edges of the BACK PANEL separately. Stitch the center back seam from the ZIPPER mark downwards, press SEAM ALLOWANCES open. Insert the ZIPPER. Attach the back trim to the BACK PANEL, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the trim and overcast.
5. Stitch darts on the upper FRONT PANELs, press depths downwards. Stitch the relief edges of the upper FRONT PANEL, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the center, overcast.
6. Attach the front FACINGs to the upper parts, clipping the pieces at the corners. Clip SEAM ALLOWANCES at curves, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the FACING. Overcast the center edge of the left upper FRONT PANEL.
7. Stitch shoulder edges, press SEAM ALLOWANCES open. Stitch shoulder edges of inner FACINGs (hereinafter = FACINGs), press SEAM ALLOWANCES open. Overcast the inner edge. Fold the FACING with the dress right sides together and stitch the right front edge and the neckline edges of the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL. Clip SEAM ALLOWANCES at curves, trim at corners. Turn the FACING to the wrong side, straighten, press. Topstitch the FACING into the attachment seam.
8. Overlap the right FRONT PANEL onto the left FRONT PANEL, aligning NOTCHES, and secure with buttons, sewing them through all layers.
9. Attach the front insert to the upper FRONT PANEL, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the insert and overcast. Attach the front trim to the lower FRONT PANEL, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the trim and overcast. Form and secure pleats according to markings. Attach the lower FRONT PANEL to the upper, press SEAM ALLOWANCES upwards and overcast.
10. Fold the flap piece in half lengthwise, right side in, and stitch. Trim SEAM ALLOWANCES at corners, turn the piece right side out, press.
11. Stitch side edges, inserting flaps, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the BACK PANEL and overcast.
12. Stitch side edges of FACINGs, press SEAM ALLOWANCES open. Stitch the armhole in two steps: first the BACK PANEL, then the FRONT PANEL. Clip SEAM ALLOWANCES at curves, turn FACINGs out, press. Topstitch the FACING to the garment in the attachment seam. Attach the FACING to the ZIPPER tape.
13. Overcast the bottom edge of the dress, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
14. Sew buttons onto the flap.
