Sewing Instructions
- Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the neckline FACING pieces.
- Stitch darts on the upper BACK PANELS. Press darts towards the center seam. Attach BACK PANEL inserts to the upper BACK PANELS, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the inserts and serge.
- On the lower BACK PANELS, create and secure inverted pleats. Attach the lower BACK PANELS to the inserts, press SEAM ALLOWANCES upwards and serge.
- Serge the center back seam allowance separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the NOTCH to the bottom. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES open, pressing the slit for the ZIPPER. Insert the ZIPPER.
- On the upper FRONT PANEL, stitch between the NOTCHES with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. Attach the FRONT PANEL insert to the upper FRONT PANEL, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the insert and serge. On the lower FRONT PANEL, create and secure inverted pleats according to markings. Attach the lower FRONT PANEL to the insert, press SEAM ALLOWANCES upwards and serge.
- Stitch side and shoulder seams, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the BACK PANEL and serge.
- Stitch shoulder seams of the FACINGS. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES open and serge. Serge the outer edge of the FACINGS. Place the dress and FACING right sides together, aligning the neckline edges. Stop 5 mm before the edges of the concealed fastener, fold back the FACING and pin to the upper edge of the dress. On the right side of the dress, fold back the SEAM ALLOWANCES along the ZIPPER and pin to the neckline edge over the FACING. Stitch the neckline edge. Clip the seam at curves, turn pieces right side out and press. Topstitch the seam allowances to the FACING. Secure the FACING to the ZIPPER tape.
- On the SLEEVE, stitch the horizontal pleat according to markings, press the depth upwards. Stitch the SLEEVE seam, press SEAM ALLOWANCES and serge. Set in SLEEVES into armholes, matching NOTCHES and easing the cap. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES and serge.
- Serge the hem allowance of the dress and SLEEVES, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
