Fabric & Materials
Fabric recommendations: silky, well-draping fabrics made of natural fibers or with added artificial fibers (silk, viscose). Also needed: fusible interfacing; concealed zipper.
CUTTER'S MUST
If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: hem allowance — 2 cm, other seams 1 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
- From main fabric:
- Center piece - 2 pieces
- Side piece - 4 pieces
- Inner yoke - 2 pieces
- Outer yoke - 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing:
- Inner yoke – 2 pieces
Sewing Instructions
- Reinforce the inner skirt yokes with fusible interfacing.
- Stitch along the upper edge of the center piece with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. Stitch the center skirt piece to the side pieces. Overlock the seam and press towards the center piece.
- Along the side edges, and also along the marked lines of the outer yoke, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather.
- Attach the outer yoke to the lower parts of the skirt. Overlock the seam and press downwards. Face the upper edge of the outer yoke with the inner yoke. Clip the seam, turn right side out, and press. Overlock the lower edge of the inner yoke.
- On the front of the skirt, along the upper edge of the yoke, stitch a topstitch 0.5 cm from the edge.
- Stitch the right side seam, inserting the front piece between the outer and inner back yokes. Overlock the seam and press towards the back.
- Overlock the left side seam separately. Stitch the left side seam from the fastener mark downwards. Press the seam open, pressing the allowance for the fastener. Fold back the inner yokes and insert the zipper. Attach the open side edges of the inner yokes to the zipper allowances. On the back of the skirt, along the upper edge of the yoke, stitch a topstitch 0.5 cm from the edge. Topstitch the inner yokes into the seam of attaching the outer yokes and press.
- Topstitch the outer yokes onto the inner yokes along the marked gathering line.
- Hem the lower edge of the skirt twice by 1 cm and topstitch.
