Sewing Instructions
When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match! Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is stitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.
- Stitch the center back seam. Finish the allowances and press them to the left side.
- Place the pocket and front right sides together and stitch from the bottom to the mark. Turn to the right side. Attach the side panel to the front from the top to the pocket opening. Finish the allowance and press it towards the front. Stitch the upper edges of the pocket. Finish the allowance.
- On the left sleeve, trim the placket allowance and attach it to the front. Finish the allowances. Finish the lower edges of the placket on the right sleeve and front. Attach the right sleeve to the front, ending the stitch at the placket. Finish the allowance. Set the sleeves into the back armhole. Finish the allowances.
- Stitch the side seams and sleeve seams in one continuous seam. Finish the allowances.
- Fold the cuff in half lengthwise. Stitch sections 1, 2, and 3, leaving two openings. Press the allowances open and flat. Fold the cuff, stitched into a ring, in half. Fold the allowances of the opening inwards and hand-stitch. Attach the cuff to the sleeve, aligning the mark with the sleeve seam and shifting the thumbhole towards the front. Finish the allowance.
- Stitch the hood seam. Finish the allowance. Stitch the upper seam of the hood facings. Press the allowances open. Finish the outer edge of the facings. Attach the hood to the neckline. Place the facing on the hood and stitch the front vertical edges. Press the allowances open. Press the placket allowances on the front and sleeve to the wrong side. Turn the facing to the right side and topstitch the hood edge. Attach the lower edge of the facing to the neckline and finish the neckline edge. Topstitch along the front and left hood, simultaneously securing the placket allowance. Topstitch along the sleeve and right hood, simultaneously securing the placket allowance.
- Stitch the placket into a ring. Fold in half lengthwise and attach, slightly stretching the placket. The seam is located near the left side seam. Finish the allowance.
- On the front and left hood, make buttonholes; on the right side, sew on buttons.
