Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: Silk SATIN or heavy SATIN, thin TULLE (preferably two shades, e.g., milky and creamy white). Also needed: ZIPPER; FUSIBLE INTERFACING; metal or plastic BONING; ready-made underskirt of stiff TULLE, LACE TRIM 1.5-2 cm wide. For finishing: LACE TRIM 1.5-2 cm wide is needed to cover seams. Also, SATIN BIAS BINDING is needed for the "BONING".

CUTTER'S MUST

If the patterns have a double contour, they include SEAM ALLOWANCES. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: All seams - 1 cm. ATTENTION! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width should be at least 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need.

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 2 pieces
    • Front – 2 pieces
    • Front facing – 2 pieces
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
    • Belt – 1 piece
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Front facing – 2 pieces
    • Back neckline facing – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

When stitching pieces, pay attention to the NOTCHES - they must match! Try to observe the GRAIN LINE direction.

  1. Stitch the center back seam, press seam allowances to the left side and overcast.
  2. Stitch the darts on the front pieces. Press the dart folds towards the center.
  3. Press the top edge allowance of the pocket to the wrong side by 1 cm, then by another 3 cm, and topstitch. Overcast the side and bottom edges of the pocket, press to the wrong side, place on the front piece, and topstitch.
  4. Stitch the shoulder seams of the back and front, clipping the allowances at the corners, press towards the back and overcast. Stitch the collar seam, press seam allowances open. Attach the collar to the neckline, press seam allowances towards the collar.
  5. Stitch the shoulder seams of the front facings and neckline facing, clipping the allowances at the corners, press seam allowances open. Stitch the collar seam, press seam allowances open. Attach the collar to the neckline, press seam allowances towards the collar. Overcast the outer edge.
  6. Fold the front facing with the front piece right sides together and stitch the collar edge, front edge, and bottom edge. Secure the collar attachment allowances together.
  7. Set the sleeves into the open armholes according to the notches, press seam allowances and overcast. Stitch the side seams simultaneously with the sleeve seams, press seam allowances towards the back and overcast.
  8. Overcast the bottom edge of the garment and sleeves, press to the wrong side by 1 cm, then by another 2 cm, and topstitch.
  9. Fold the belt piece in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch along the long and one short side. Turn the belt right side out, turn in the seam allowances of the unstitched section, and topstitch at a distance of 0.7 cm from the edge around the perimeter of the belt.
