Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: blouse fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: elastic thread; decorative braid (approximate length indicated on the front pattern piece); 1 button. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: allowance for the bottom edge of the back and front – 2.0 cm, other seams - 1.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED.

• From main fabric 1:
  • Back – 1 piece with fold
  • Front – 1 piece with fold
  • Sleeve – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

1. Along the neckline edge of the front piece, stitch with a loosened upper thread to create gathers.
2. Cut a bias binding for finishing the back slit, with a length equal to double the slit length + 4 cm and a width of 5 cm. Press the binding lengthwise in the middle, right side out. Mark the slit line on the back, cut it. Lay out the back along the slit line in a straight line, place the binding on the right side, aligning the edges, and stitch. The seam allowance along the slit length is 0.5 – 0.7 cm, decreasing to 0.2 cm at the bottom of the slit. Fold the binding to the wrong side, wrapping around the seam, and topstitch into the attaching seam.
3. Cut a bias strip 2.5 cm wide and 10 cm long for the loop. Fold the strip lengthwise in the middle, right side in, and stitch 0.3 cm from the fold. Trim the allowances close to the stitching, turn the strip right side out, and straighten the rouleau. Adjust the loop length. Sew the loop to the left side of the back slit.
4. Attach the sleeves to the back and front, press the allowances towards the sleeve and overcast. Topstitch decorative braid onto the seams.
5. Stitch the side edges and sleeve edges with one seam, press the allowances towards the back and overcast.
6. Cut a bias binding from the main fabric, 4 cm wide and with a length equal to the neckline length + 4 cm. Fold the bias binding lengthwise in the middle, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the neckline edge on the wrong! side, leaving tails, and stitch. Clip the allowances, trim the ends, tuck them inside, fold the binding to the right! side and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece. Press the seam. Alternatively, the neckline can be finished with bias binding. In this case, the allowances along the back and front necklines and the upper edges of the sleeves should be trimmed to 0 cm.
7. Overcast the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side, and topstitch. Overcast the bottom edge of the sleeve, press to the wrong side, and topstitch. The sleeve hem can also be finished with a narrow rolled hem. For this, the hem allowance needs to be trimmed.
8. Sew the button to the right side of the back slit.
9. On the sleeves, stitch with elastic thread according to the markings.
