Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers with elastane, chiffon in matching tones. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing, invisible zipper, elastic tape.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS ARE WITHOUT SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for the bottom edge of the garment and sleeve – 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST OF ALL, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to consider paired and symmetrical parts). WHEN STITCHING PARTS, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back - 2 pieces
    • Front – 1 piece on fold
    • Front neckline facing – 1 piece
    • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
  • From main fabric 2:
    • Upper front part – 1 piece on fold
    • Upper back part – 2 pieces
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Front neckline facing – 1 piece
    • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
  2. Stitch darts on the back pieces, press allowances towards the center. Overcast the center back edges separately. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the bottom. Press allowances open.
  3. Stitch darts on the front. Press allowance upwards.
  4. Stitch side and shoulder seams on the front and back pieces. Press allowances towards the back and overcast.
  5. Clip the allowance at the zipper mark on the upper back pieces. Overcast the center back edges separately (4 sections). Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the bottom. Stitch side and shoulder seams on the upper front and back pieces. Press allowances towards the back and overcast.
  6. Place the detached part of the dress onto the right side of the garment and secure along the neckline and armhole edges. Secure the detached and main parts along the center back seam. Insert the invisible zipper.
  7. Stitch shoulder seams of the facings. Overcast allowances and press towards the back. Overcast the outer edge. Place the facing right side down onto the garment and stitch the neckline. Clip allowances, trim corners, turn facings to the wrong side and press. Attach the center allowances of the facing to the zipper tape.
  8. Stitch the sleeve seam. Overcast allowance and press towards the back. Set sleeves into armholes. Overcast allowance and press. Turn up the sleeve hem allowance twice by 1 cm and topstitch, creating a casing. Thread elastic tape through the casing, adjust length, and secure ends.
  9. Overcast the bottom edges of the garment. Press allowances to the wrong side and topstitch.
