Sewing Instructions

Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.6 – 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity.

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
  2. Stitch bust darts. Press seam allowances upwards. Stitch upper and lower parts of front and back. Serge seam allowances and press upwards.
  3. Stitch side seams simultaneously with sleeve seams. Serge seam allowances and press towards the back. Stitch shoulder seams. Serge seam allowances and press towards the back.
  4. Fold collars right sides together and stitch the upper, vertical edge and diagonal edges up to the collar attachment mark. Clip the seam allowance at the long mark. Turn the collar right side out and press. Form and secure the pleats. Pleat depths are directed downwards. Fold the placket in half lengthwise right sides together and stitch the upper and lower edges. Trim seam allowances, turn right side out and press. Press unstitched seam allowances inwards. Insert collar pleats into the placket and stitch. Attach the collar to the neckline. Serge the neckline seam allowance along the contour. Press seam allowances towards the main garment and topstitch.
  5. Stitch the cuff into a loop. Press seam allowance open. Fold the cuff in half lengthwise. Attach the cuff to the bottom of the sleeve, stretching it slightly. Serge seam allowance.
  6. Serge the hem allowance, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  7. Make buttonholes and sew on buttons.
