Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: well-draping knit fabric with medium or high stretch from natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: 2 buttons. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THE PATTERNS INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES; IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: hem and sleeve hem allowance – 2.0 cm, other seams 1 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can range from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED.

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

• From main fabric:
  • Center back – 1 piece on fold
  • Side back – 2 pieces
  • Center front – 2 pieces
  • Side front – 2 pieces
  • Sleeve – 2 pieces
  • Front facing – 2 pieces
  • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
  • Belt – 4 pieces

Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.

Sewing Instructions

1. Stitch the back princess seams. Press seam allowances towards the center and serge.
2. Fold belt pieces in pairs right sides together and stitch along all edges except the princess seam. Trim seam allowances, turn right side out, and press.
3. Stitch the front princess seams, inserting the belt pieces. Press seam allowances towards the center and serge.
4. Stitch shoulder and side seams, press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
5. Stitch the center seam of the collar. Press seam allowance open. Attach the collar to the back neckline, clipping seam allowances at the corners.
6. Stitch the sleeve seam, press seam allowances towards the back and serge. Set in sleeves into armholes, matching notches, press and serge seam allowances.
7. Stitch shoulder seams of facing and front facing, press seam allowances open. Stitch the center seam of the collar on the front facing. Press seam allowances open. Attach the collar to the facing neckline, clipping seam allowance at the corner. Serge the outer edge of the front facing and facing. Place the garment with the front facing right sides together and stitch the front edges and collar. Clip seam allowances, turn right side out, and press. Secure collar seam allowances.
8. Stitch the lower corner with the front facing. Serge the lower edge of the garment. Press to the wrong side and topstitch.
9. Make buttonholes on the belt. On the right belt, make a vertical buttonhole. Thread the left belt through the vertical buttonhole, smooth out the pleats, adjust the width, and sew on buttons.
