Tech. Description

Long Sleeve Draped Asymmetrical Dress

A women's fitted knee-length dress in low-stretch knit fabric, with a boat neckline, three-quarter set-in sleeves and a lower front cut in two parts that forms a cascading drape and an asymmetric hem on one side.

When To Wear

  • At the office or at day events in autumn and spring, with pumps.
  • For dinners and parties, with heeled shoes and a clutch.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted bodice with bust and waist darts, joined to a narrow lower part at a seam just below the bust.

Length: About knee length, with the draped side falling lower.

Neckline: Wide boat neckline finished with interfaced facings, secured to the shoulder seams and zip tape.

Sleeves: Three-quarter set-in sleeves with a short slit at the hem, finished with an interfaced facing slip-stitched by hand.

Front: One-piece upper front; separate right and left lower fronts are joined to it and to each other so that one side falls into a cascade.

Back: Upper and lower back joined at a horizontal seam, centre back seam with a concealed zip from the neckline.

Finishing: Hem overlocked, turned up 1.5 cm and topstitched; a twin needle is advised to keep the stretch.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Knit fabric with stretch or zigzag stitches, an asymmetric drape joined at a pivot mark, a concealed zip and faced sleeve slits.

Fabric Recommendations

Low-stretch knit fabric in natural or blended fibres.
