Button Front V-Neck Romper

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: silk fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. You will also need: fusible interfacing, elastic 0.7 cm wide, 3 buttons.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: allowance for the upper edge of the front and back shorts halves, as well as for the lower edge of the back and front bodice — 2 cm. Allowance for the lower edge of the front and back shorts halves – 2 cm. Other seams 1 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST OF ALL, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED. WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

• From main fabric:
  • Back – 1 piece on fold
  • Front bodice – 2 pieces
  • Front shorts half — 2 pieces
  • Back shorts half — 2 pieces
  • Side panel — 2 pieces
  • Pocket bag — 2 pieces
  • Front facing — 2 pieces
  • Back neckline facing — 1 piece
• From fusible interfacing:
  • Front facing — 2 pieces
  • Back neckline facing — 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

1. Interface the pieces with fusible interfacing. Also interface the pocket opening allowance on the front halves.
2. Place the pocket bag on the front half and stitch the pocket opening. Turn the pocket bag to the wrong side, topstitch the allowances onto the pocket bag with a 0.1 cm seam and press.
3. Place the front half onto the side panel according to the markings. Stitch the pocket bag to the side panel, overcast the allowances. Secure the pocket bag to the front half along the upper and side edges.
4. Stitch the center seams of the front and back shorts halves, press open and overcast the allowances. Stitch the side seams of the shorts, press the allowances towards the back and overcast. Stitch the inseam, press the allowances towards the back and overcast.
5. Stitch the shoulder and side seams of the back and front bodice, press the allowances towards the back and overcast.
6. Stitch the shoulder seams of the front facings and neckline facing, press the allowances open. Overcast the outer edge. Place the front facings with the garment right sides together and stitch the front edge of the bodice and the back neckline. Clip the allowances at curves, trim at corners. Turn the front facings to the wrong side, straighten and press. Secure to the garment at the shoulder seams. Overlap the right front bodice over the left along the center line and secure at the lower edge. Along the lower edge of the front bodice, stitch with a loosened thread and gather.
7. Place the bodice and shorts wrong sides together. Stitch 0.7 cm from the edge. Turn the pieces to the wrong side, press and stitch again 1.3 cm from the seam. Press the seam downwards. Topstitch the allowance onto the shorts. Carefully cut a buttonhole for inserting the elastic and overcast by hand. Insert the elastic and secure.
8. Press the lower edge allowance 1 cm, then another 1 cm and topstitch.
9. On the right front bodice, overcast buttonholes, on the left, sew on buttons.
