Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; 9 buttons; decorative cord. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seam allowances – 1.0 cm. Hem allowance – 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Upper back part – 2 pieces
    • Lower back part - 2 pieces
    • Upper front part - 2 pieces
    • Lower front part – 2 pieces
    • Sleeve - 2 pieces
    • Cuff - 2 pieces
    • Sleeve tab - 2 pieces
    • Collar – 2 pieces
    • Collar stand – 2 pieces
    • Front side panel – 2 pieces
    • Pocket bag – 2 pieces
    • Back waist tie – 1 piece
    • Front waist tie – 1 piece
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Collar - 1 piece
    • Collar stand – 1 piece
    • Cuff – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces. Also, fuse the all-in-one facing of the upper front part.
  2. Stitch the center seam of the upper back part, press seam allowances to the left and serge. Stitch the center seams of the lower back and front parts, press seam allowances to the left and serge.
  3. Stitch the bust darts on the front pieces, press the dart fullness upwards.
  4. Serge the edge of the all-in-one facing of the upper front part. Press the facing to the wrong side, secure it to the main piece along the upper and lower edges. Make buttonholes on the right front. Overlap the right front over the left and secure along the lower edge.
  5. Stitch the side and shoulder seams of the upper back and front parts, press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
  6. Fold the collar pieces right sides together and stitch the ends and outer edge. Trim seam allowances, turn the collar right side out, shape and press. Topstitch along the contour. Fold the collar stand pieces right sides together and stitch, inserting the collar. Start and end the stitching strictly at the marked line for attaching the collar stand to the neckline. Trim seam allowances, turn the collar stand right side out and press.
  7. Attach the outer collar stand to the neckline, press seam allowances towards the collar stand. Fold the edge of the inner collar stand inwards and topstitch into the attachment seam.
  8. Fuse interfacing to the pocket opening on the lower front part. Fold the pocket bag with the lower front part right sides together and stitch around the pocket opening. Clip seam allowances. Turn the pocket bag to the wrong side, press. Overlap the lower front part onto the front side panel and stitch the edges of the pocket bags, serge seam allowances. Secure the pieces along the side and upper edges.
  9. Stitch the side seams of the lower back and front parts, press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
  10. Stitch the side seams of the back and front waist ties, press seam allowances open. Press the upper edge to the wrong side. Make buttonholes according to markings. Stitch the upper and lower parts of the garment, inserting the lower edge of the waist tie into the seam, press seam allowances upwards and serge. Topstitch the waist tie onto the main garment along the upper fold, forming a casing.
  11. Fold the tabs lengthwise in half right sides together and stitch along the long and short edges. Turn right side out, trimming seam allowances at the corners, shape and press. Serge the open short edge. Topstitch the tabs onto the wrong side of the sleeves according to markings.
  12. Serge the sleeve edges separately. Stitch the sleeve seam from the armhole to the mark, press seam allowances open. Stitch a reinforcing line along the slit 0.1 cm from the edge. Set the sleeves into the armholes, press seam allowances and serge.
  13. Fold the cuff lengthwise in half right sides together and stitch the side seams. Turn the piece right side out, press. Attach the outer side of the cuff to the sleeve, fold the seam allowance of the inner cuff inwards and topstitch into the attachment seam of the outer cuff.
  14. Serge the hem of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  15. Sew buttons onto the left upper front. Make buttonholes and sew buttons onto the collar stand and cuffs. Make buttonholes on the tabs, sew buttons onto the sleeves.
  16. Thread the decorative cord through the casing.
