Ruffled Blouse with Front Tie

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: blouse fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; elastic tape 3.5-4 cm wide.

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: Hem allowance – 2 cm; all other seams – 1 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can range from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

• From main fabric:
  • Central upper back part - 4 pieces
  • Central lower back part – 1 piece
  • Side back part - 2 pieces
  • Central front part - 2 pieces
  • Side front part – 2 pieces
  • Flounce 1 – 2 pieces
  • Flounce 2 — 2 pieces
  • Back facing – 1 piece
• From fusible interfacing:
  • Central upper back part – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces. Also fuse the neckline allowance of the front piece.
2. Stitch the shoulder seams of the central upper back part and the central front part. Press seam allowances open. Fold the pieces right sides together and face the neckline, tie, and vertical back edge. Trim seam allowances at corners, clip curves, turn right side out, and press.
3. Serge the lower edge of the back facing. Fold the facing and the lower back part right sides together and stitch the upper edge, inserting the central back parts. Turn the facing down and topstitch, forming a casing. Insert elastic tape and secure.
4. Stitch the shoulder seam of the side parts. Serge the allowance and press towards the back.
5. Serge, fold, and topstitch the outer allowance of the flounces. Alternatively, you can finish the edges with bias binding or a French seam. For this, you need to trim the allowance.
6. Stitch the princess seams of the front and back simultaneously, inserting flounce 1 into the seam. Serge the allowance and press towards the center.
7. Stitch the side seams, press allowances towards the back, and serge.
8. Attach flounce 2 to the armhole. Serge the allowance and press towards the flounce.
9. Cut (or use ready-made) bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the length of the lower armhole + 4 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Fold the binding with the armhole edge right side together and face. Turn the binding to the wrong side, clip allowances, and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
10. Serge the bottom edge of the garment, fold inwards, and topstitch.
