  • From lining fabric:
    • Upper center back - 2 pieces
    • Upper side back – 2 pieces
    • Lower back – 2 pieces
    • Upper center front - 2 pieces
    • Upper side front – 2 pieces
    • Lower front – 2 pieces
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces

Lining fabric pieces, except for the sleeve, are cut according to the main fabric patterns.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Apply fusible interfacing 1.5 cm wide along the neckline edges of the back and front, along the center edge of the lower front, along the lower edge of the back and front.
  2. Stitch the princess seams of the upper back, press seams open. Stitch the princess seams of the upper front, press seams open.
  3. Stitch the side and shoulder seams of the upper, press seams open.
  4. Stitch the side seams of the lower of the garment, press seams open.
  5. Stitch the lining pieces similarly to the main fabric pieces. Place the lining with the upper of the dress right sides together and stitch the back neckline and the front edge. Turn the pieces right side out, straighten, press. Secure the lining to the main piece along the lower edge, center back edge, and armhole edge. Overlap the right front piece over the left, aligning the center lines, and secure along the lower edge.
  6. Place the lining with the lower of the dress and stitch the front edge. Turn the pieces right side out, straighten, press. Secure the lining to the main piece along the upper, lower, and center back edges. Overlap the right front piece over the left, aligning the center lines, and secure along the upper edge.
  7. Stitch the upper and lower parts of the garment, press seams up and overlock.
  8. Overlock the center back edges separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the notch for the zipper to the bottom, press seams open. Insert the zipper.
  9. Fold and stitch the inverted pleats on the sleeve piece. Stitch the sleeve seam, press seams open. Stitch along the upper edge with a loosened thread and gather.
  10. Stitch the sleeve seam on the lining piece, press seams open. Place the lining with the sleeve right sides together and stitch the lower edge. Turn the pieces right side out, straighten, press. Secure the lining to the main piece along the sleeve cap edge and treat as one piece thereafter.
  11. Set the sleeves into the armholes, press seams and overlock.
  12. Overlock the lower edge of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch. Along the bottom of the sleeve, stitch a decorative-securing stitch 0.7 cm from the edge.
