CUTTER'S MUST
- From main fabric:
- Upper back part – 2 pieces
- Upper front part – 1 piece
- Lower front part – 1 piece on fold
- Lower back part - 1 piece on fold
- Skirt side panel - 2 pieces
- Waistband – 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing:
- Waistband - 2 pieces
- From lining fabric:
- Upper back part – 2 pieces
- Upper front part – 1 piece
- Pocket lining – 2 pieces
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the waistband pieces.
- Stitch the center back seams on the outer pieces and on the back lining. Press seam allowances open.
- Stitch shoulder seams on the main fabric and on the lining, press seam allowances open.
- Place the main dress and lining right sides together and stitch the neckline. Clip seam allowances, turn pieces right side out. Stitch armholes in two steps: First the back armhole, then the front armhole. Clip seam allowances, turn piece right side out and press.
- Place the outer and inner waistbands right sides together and stitch along the upper edge, inserting the upper front and back parts.
- Place the pocket lining on the lower skirt part and stitch the pocket opening. Place the lower part on the front side panel and stitch the pocket bag edges. Overlock seam allowances.
- Overlock the side seams of the skirt separately. Stitch the right seam, press seam allowances open. Stitch the left side seam from the zipper mark to the hem. Press seam allowances open.
- Attach the outer waistband to the skirt, press seam allowance upwards. Insert the zipper. Fold the seam allowance of the inner waistband inwards and topstitch into the seam. Secure the side edges of the waistband to the zipper tape.
- Overlock the lower edge of the dress, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
