When To Wear

This dress is designed for a sophisticated look, making it an ideal choice for:

Front Detail: an asymmetric double-layer yoke laid over the front, folded into a fan of pleats running from the right side up towards the left shoulder, with one decorative button at the collar.

Sleeves: long set-in sleeves with pleats at the lower edge, each trimmed with a decorative button.

Back: Features a clean center back seam for a tailored fit.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose medium-stretch knit fabrics that offer both comfort and drape:

  • Medium-stretch knit fabrics made from natural or blended fibers

Additional Supplies

  • 3 buttons

Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
  • Back – 2 pieces
  • Front – 1 piece
  • Sleeve – 2 pieces
  • Yoke – 2 pieces
  • Collar – 1 piece

Tip: Knit fabric pieces should be sewn with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance should be topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. Alternatively, pieces can be sewn directly on a 3- or 4-thread serger.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Mark and stitch the darts on the Front. Trim the dart excess with a serger. Fold the Collar in half lengthwise, wrong sides together, and press. Stitch the Collar to the front neckline.
  2. Place the Yoke pieces right sides together and stitch along the long straight edge and the large semicircular edge. Trim the seam allowances, clip the curves, turn right side out, and press. Place the yoke on the front and baste it along the armhole edge and the right shoulder edge. Fold the pleats on the yoke according to the markings, with the inner folds of the pleats directed upwards towards the left shoulder. Topstitch the inner fold of each pleat to the front along the markings on the Front piece. It is best to fold and topstitch the pleats starting from the right side seam.
  3. Stitch the center back seam. Stitch the shoulder seams of the back and front (on the back, the shoulder seam allowance is 1.5 cm longer than on the front). Press the seam allowances towards the back and serge.
  4. Stitch the side seams, serge, and press towards the back.
  5. On the Sleeve, clip the seam allowance from the lower corner to mark "o". Mark and fold the pleats on the sleeve, with the pleat folds directed upwards. Baste the pleats along the edge. Stitch the seam from mark "o" down to the lower edge. Serge and press the seam. Stitch the sleeve seam, serge, and press. Set the sleeves into the armholes. Serge and press the seam.
  6. Serge the hem edge of the dress, the back neckline edge, and the lower edge of the sleeves. Turn to the wrong side, press, and topstitch.
  7. Sew on the buttons according to the markings on the yoke and the sleeves.
