CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric:
    1. FRONT PANEL – 1 piece on fold
    2. BACK PANEL – 2 pieces
    3. SLEEVE – 2 pieces
    4. CUFF – 2 pieces
    5. FRONT PANEL FACING – 1 piece
    6. BACK PANEL FACING – 1 piece
  • FROM FUSIBLE INTERFACING:
    1. FRONT PANEL FACING – 1 piece
    2. BACK PANEL FACING – 1 piece

Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics should be sewn with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also sew pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Reinforce the FACINGS with FUSIBLE INTERFACING.
  2. Stitch the center back seam of the BACK PANEL. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES to the left side and serge.
  3. Create three inverted pleats on the FRONT PANEL. Secure them along the upper edge.
  4. Stitch the shoulder and side seams. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the BACK PANEL and serge.
  5. Stitch the shoulder seams of the neckline FACINGS. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES open. Serge the outer edge of the FACINGS. Finish the neckline with the FACING. Turn the FACING inwards and press. Secure the FACING at the center back seam and shoulder seams.
  6. Stitch the SLEEVE seams. Serge and press SEAM ALLOWANCES. Along the bottom of the SLEEVE, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. Stitch the CUFF into a loop. Fold the CUFF in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Attach the CUFF to the SLEEVE.
  7. Set the SLEEVES into the armholes, matching NOTCHES. Serge and press SEAM ALLOWANCES.
  8. Serge the bottom edge of the garment. Fold to the wrong side, press, and topstitch.
