Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the shoulder seams. Overlock and press the seam allowances towards the back.
  2. Stitch the center back seam. Overlock and press the seam allowance to the left side.
  3. Place the upper and under collar right sides together and stitch along the outer edge. Turn right side out. Mark, fold, and baste the pleats on the collar. Place the collar on the right side of the dress and stitch it to the neckline edge of the Center Upper Front (up to the shoulder seam). Overlock the seam. Align and baste the lower edges of the collar and the Center Upper Front. Stitch the collar into the neckline, sandwiching the Center Upper Front between the collar and the front. Overlock the seam.
  4. Fold the Ruche in half right sides together and stitch the rounded edge. Turn right side out and press. Position the upper corner of the ruche at the lower edge of the collar. Align the raw edges of the Center Front and the ruche and baste them together 0.5 cm from the edge.
  5. Stitch the princess seams of the front and back. Overlock and press the seam allowances towards the center.
  6. Overlock the left side edges of the back and front. Insert the zipper from the upper edge to the notch. Fold the lower end of the zipper out of the way and stitch the side seam from the notch downwards. Press the seam allowances open. Stitch the right side seam, press the seam towards the back and overlock.
  7. Stitch the sleeve seam. Overlock and press the seam allowance towards the back. Fold the cuff right sides together and stitch it into a ring. Fold the cuff in half, wrong sides together, and press. Stitch the outer layer of the cuff to the sleeve. Fold the allowance of the inner layer under and topstitch it over the attachment seam. Set the sleeves into the armholes, matching the notches. Overlock and press the seams.
  8. Overlock the hem of the dress, fold it up, and hand stitch.
