Smocked Bodice Strapless Sundress

Pattern #5905
Tech. Description

Smocked Bodice Strapless Sundress

Introducing a simple, elegant pattern for a comfortable strapless sundress, distinguished by its artfully smocked bodice and gracefully flowing skirt.

When To Wear

This versatile sundress is perfect for a variety of warm-weather occasions, including:

  • Warm-Weather Gatherings: Ideal for picnics, garden parties, or outdoor events where comfort meets style.
  • Vacation & Resort Wear: An essential piece for relaxed holidays, beachside strolls, or elegant resort evenings.
  • Casual Everyday Style: Comfortable and chic enough for daily wear during warmer seasons.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Relaxed A-line, flowing gracefully from the bodice to a maxi length.

Neckline: Strapless with a straight-across design, offering a clean, elegant décolletage.

Bodice: Fitted and fully smocked (shirred with elastic thread) down to the waist level, providing comfort, flexibility, and a flattering fit.

Waist: An empire waist effect is created by the smocked bodice, allowing the skirt to gently gather below.

Skirt: Full and generously flared, ensuring beautiful drape and effortless movement with every step.

Length: Maxi length, falling to the ankles for an elegant and comfortable silhouette, as depicted.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. This pattern involves working with elastic thread for smocking and incorporating a lining, making it suitable for sewers with some prior experience.
