Introducing a women's sewing pattern for a sleek, fitted top featuring a chic high neck and a captivating asymmetrical ruffled sleeve design.

When To Wear

This stylish top is versatile, making it an excellent choice for:

  • Stylish Daywear: Perfect for elevating an everyday look with a touch of sophistication.
  • Evening & Social Gatherings: a distinctive choice for dinners, parties, or cultural events.
  • Professional Chic: Suitable for office environments that allow for elegant and expressive fashion.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted, body-skimming silhouette that accentuates the figure.

Neckline & Collar: High stand-up collar, designed to be stitched into a ring and pulled over the head.

Closure: Pull-on style with no visible closure, relying on the fabric's stretch.

Sleeves: Long sleeves; the left sleeve is plain, while the right sleeve is adorned with three layered ruffles (volans) running along its length in an asymmetrical arrangement.

Hem: Straight hemline, designed to sit at hip length.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires familiarity with sewing knit fabrics and experience with gathering and precise placement of decorative elements.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose fabrics with suitable stretch for comfort and drape:

  • Knit fabrics with medium to high stretch
  • Natural or blended fibers

Additional Supplies

No additional notions are required.

Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
  • Front – 1 qty
  • Back – 1 qty
  • Left sleeve – 1 qty
  • Front of right sleeve – 1 qty
  • Back of right sleeve – 1 qty
  • Flounce 1 – 1 qty
  • Flounce 2 – 1 qty
  • Flounce 3 – 1 qty
  • Collar – 1 qty

Attention! Before starting, check that the collar, when sewn into a ring, fits over the head.

Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are sewn with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.6 – 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Attach the front and back parts of the right sleeve to the armhole of the front and back. Serge the seam and press it open.
  2. Stitch the left shoulder seam of the back and front. Serge the seam and press it towards the back.
  3. Fold the collar in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. Attach the collar to the neckline, aligning the notches. The side edge of the collar is positioned at the right shoulder seam. Serge the collar insertion seam and press it.
  4. Layer the flounces so that the narrowest is on top, the medium one underneath, then the widest. Align the edges and stitch along the inner edge with loosely tensioned stitches. Gather the flounce (the length of the gathering is indicated on the front pattern piece). The outer edge of the flounce remains unfinished.
  5. Place the front and back right sides together and align the edges of the collar, the right shoulder edge, and the sleeve edge. Insert the flounce between the back and front halves, stepping back 1.5 cm from the lower sleeve edge, and at the collar, extend the flounce 2 cm above the collar. The narrow flounce is directed towards the front, the wide flounce towards the back. Stitch the collar edge, the shoulder edge, and the sleeve edge. Fold the extended of the flounce to the wrong side and secure by hand, covering the collar stitching seam.
  6. Stitch the side edges of the back and front, simultaneously stitching the seam of the right sleeve. Serge the seams and press them towards the back.
  7. Stitch the seam of the left sleeve. Serge the seam and press it.
  8. Set the left sleeve into the armhole, aligning the notches. Serge the seam and press it.
  9. Serge the lower edge of the garment and the lower edge of the sleeve. Fold to the wrong side, press, and topstitch. For the right sleeve, start and end the stitching near the flounce.
