Key Design Features

Back: High back with a clean, vertical center seam.

Closure: Discreet invisible zipper closure centered at the back seam, extending from the top edge downwards.

Length: Finishes gracefully at knee-length.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires confident sewing skills, including dart construction, invisible zipper insertion, and accurate assembly of the lined halter straps.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose luxurious fabrics with a soft drape and elegant sheen for the main garment:

  • Velvet

Additional Supplies

  • Lining fabric
  • Invisible zipper
  • Two hook-and-eye closures

Cutter's Must

  • From velvet:
    1. Back – 2 qty
    2. Front – 1 qty
    3. Strap – 2 qty
  • From lining:
    1. Strap – 2 qty

When cutting, pay attention to the direction of the pile. It should be directed upwards, strictly on all details. To avoid crushing the pile, seam allowances are ironed either on a piece of the same velvet or on a thick terry towel from the wrong side.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the waist and bust darts on the back and front pieces. Press the waist dart depths towards the center of the piece, and the bust darts upwards.
  2. Overlock the center back edge. Insert the zipper from the upper edge to the notches. Fold back the lower of the zipper and stitch the center back edge from the notches downwards. Press the seam allowances open.
  3. Stitch the side edges, press the seam allowances towards the back and overlock.
  4. Turn the straps made of main fabric with lining on three sides, leaving the lower edge open and inserting hooks and loops. Clip the seam allowances at the curves, trim at the corners. Turn the strap to the right side.
  5. Overlock the armhole seam allowances of the front and back, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  6. Overlock the upper edge seam allowances of the front, press to the wrong side and topstitch, inserting the straps.
  7. Overlock the lower edge seam allowances, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
