When To Wear
This versatile dress is perfect for a range of occasions, offering both comfort and sophisticated style:
- Everyday Elegance: Ideal for comfortable yet chic daily wear, from errands to casual lunches.
- Office & Professional Settings: Its modest neckline and tailored details make it suitable for a polished work look.
- Social Gatherings & Events: The unique drape and tiered hem add a special touch for semi-formal events or brunches.
Key Design Features
Silhouette: a comfortable fit-and-flare silhouette with a defined empire waist and a flowing skirt.
Neckline: a softly scooped round neckline for a flattering and modest finish.
Front Bodice: a crossover bodice: the right Upper Front laps over the left, with pleats at the neckline edge and gathers at the empire seam; bust darts for shaping.
Sleeves: Three-quarter length set-in sleeves with subtle volume, gathered at the lower edge and finished with binding for a delicate puff effect.
Skirt: a layered skirt: an asymmetric Front Skirt overlay with a hemmed vertical edge lies over the outer skirt (Lower Front and Lower Back), with an inner layer (Inner Front and Inner Back) showing below the hem, creating movement and visual interest.
Back: a center back seam on the upper back; ties sewn into the side seams below the empire waist are tied in a bow at the back for adjustable shaping.
Level Of Difficulty
Intermediate. This pattern requires skills in handling knit fabrics, managing gathers and pleats, and precise neckline facing construction.
