Tech. Description

V-neck Tunic with Flared Sleeves

A women's pull-on tunic in blouse fabric with a V-neck bound in bias tape, darts at front and back, side slits and wide flared sleeves cut in two parts that open into a slit from a notch to the hem.

When To Wear

  • In summer over slim trousers, leggings or a narrow skirt.
  • In silk or viscose for an evening out, with the side slits and open sleeves moving loosely.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Loose, slightly widening towards the hem; shaped at the bust with front darts and at the back with back darts.

Length: Below the hip, with the side panels dropping lower at the slits.

Neckline: V-neck finished with bias binding; no seam allowance on the neckline.

Sleeves: Long, flared set-in sleeves, each made of a front and a back part; the seam is stitched from the cap down to a notch, and below it the edges stay open and are topstitched. The cap is eased into the armhole.

Closure: None; pulled on over the head.

Finishing: Side slits from the notch to the hem, edges turned twice and topstitched; hems of body and sleeves double-turned and topstitched (1.5 cm hem allowance).

Level Of Difficulty

Beginner. Darts, a bias-bound neckline, double-turned hems and simple set-in sleeves with eased caps; the slits on body and sleeves need neat narrow hems in light fabric.

Fabric Recommendations

Blouse fabrics of natural or blended fibres: silk, viscose, polyester.
